Abstract
Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) in older survivors with cancer. Methods Cluster sampling was used to survey older survivors with cancer using the Chinese version of the MSPSS. The results were tested for reliability and validity. Results A total of 520 valid questionnaires were retrieved. The Cronbach's a coefficient of the Chinese version of MSPSS was 0.877. Three common factors were extracted from the exploratory factors, which explained 69.5% of the variance. Confirmatory factor analysis showed Goodness of Fit Index (GFI), Comparative Fit Index (CFI) and Incremental Fit Index (IFI) indicators ranged from 0.855 to 0.921. Conclusion The Chinese version of MSPSS has good reliability and validity when applied to older survivors with cancer and can be used to assess the perceived social level of this population.
