Abstract

Running is a common choice for pedestrians during emergency evacuation, but there is a lack of study. The movement of walking flow and running flow with different motivation levels are simulated through the GCFM (generalized centrifugal-force model) comparatively. This study discuss the differences of the lane-formation and fundamental diagrams between these two groups. The results show consistency with the empirical data of control experiment. The results in this study can help evacuation management and traffic facility design.
